University Of Peshawar

The University of Peshawar which is known as Peshawar University located in the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa formerly known as NWFP a province of Pakistan. Peshawar is famous for its hospitality in all over Pakistan. It’s really a land of traditions.

The University of Peshawar is founded in 30th, October, 1950. The first Prime minister of Pakistan Mr. Liaquat Ali Khan laid down the foundation stone of University of Peshawar. In the beginning it was the offshoot of Islamia College Peshawar which was founded in 1913 in the British rules. The British rulers always kept putting off the request of upgrading Islamia College. It had to wait till 1947, the day of independence.

The University of Peshawar is a unique source of education in many respects. It’s a public sector university. It gives the facilities of education from nursery to Ph.D level.  The university has six faculties and more than forty post graduate departments are working.  The University covered area is 1045 acres. It is spread in round about 4km squares. The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan ranked University of Peshawar as the 4th best university of Pakistan for general purpose.   

The University of Peshawar enrolls 20,000 students and overall 104,479 students including private students. The University has 600 teaching staff and almost 2000 non teaching staff.

The University of Peshawar has been spreading the light of education since it was established. It’s a great seat of learning for modern education and technology.
